DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN GUWAHATI AIRPORT/GUWAHATI RAILWAY STATION – JOURNEY TO SHILLONG (120 KM, ~4 HOURS)
Your adventure begins as you land at Guwahati Airport/Guwahati Railway station, where you’ll be greeted by the serene vibes of the Northeast. Your journey to Shillong begins with a scenic drive, and a short stop at the Umiam Lake Viewpoint will leave you awe-inspired by the vast, serene waters framed by lush hills. As the sun dips lower, the cool mountain air welcomes you to Shillong, the charming “Scotland of the East.” Arrive in Shillong by evening, check in to your cozy stay, and soak in the cool hill-station air. Take a stroll nearby and enjoy a relaxed evening.

DAY 2: SHILLONG- LAITLUM KRANG SURI FALLS – DAWKI (170 KM, ~6 HOURS)
Wake up to the crisp mountain air and fuel up with a hearty breakfast before heading to Laitlum Canyons, a hidden gem offering panoramic views of undulating hills and deep gorges. The tranquility here is soul-stirring. After soaking in nature’s grandeur, continue towards Krang Suri Waterfalls, an enchanting cascade with turquoise blue water. Take a refreshing dip or simply marvel at its mesmerizing beauty.
Post lunch, proceed to Dawki, home to the crystal-clear Umngot River. A boat ride here is an absolute must—it’s an ethereal experience to glide over the seemingly invisible waters. By evening, reach your accommodation in Dawki, enjoy a delicious meal, and relax for the evening.

- Today’s journey is long, and road conditions are currently under construction. Expect traffic congestion due to boulder-loaded trucks supplying materials to Bangladesh.
- The crystal-clear waters of the Umngot River will become muddy due to rainfall, and boating activities on the river will depend on the weather conditions, during pre-monsoon & rainy season.
DAY 3: SINGLE ROOT BRIDGE – MAWLYNNONG VILLAGE – SOHRA (CHERRAPUNJEE)
After breakfast, check out and explore Mawlynnong Village, where every corner tells a story of cleanliness, community, and care for the environment. Next visit to the Single Root Bridge, a natural marvel created by generations of Khasi people. The intertwining roots are a testament to nature’s artistry and human ingenuity.
Bid farewell to this magical village and drive to the mystical landscapes and lush greenery of Sohra, famously known as Cherrapunjee. Let the mesmerizing landscapes, rolling clouds, and cascading waterfalls en route leave you awestruck.

DAY 4: EXPLORING SOHRA (CHERRAPUNJEE) – A DAY OF NATURAL WONDERS
Start your day with a hearty breakfast, check out and set off to explore the wonders of Sohra (Cherrapunjee). Wander through the mysterious chambers of the Arwah Cave, where fossils and limestone formations tell ancient tales. Stand in awe at the thundering Nohkalikai Falls, India’s tallest plunge waterfall, and let its legend stir your imagination.
Next, visit the intricate Mawsmai Cave, the serene Umkar Living Root Bridge, and the tranquil beauty of the Garden of Caves, each offering a unique glimpse into the region’s natural and cultural heritage. End the day soaking in the tranquility of Sohra, reflecting on the beauty you’ve witnessed.

DAY 5: SOHRA TO SHILLONG – MAWPHLANG SACRED FOREST & SHILLONG SIGHTSEEING (80 KM, ~3-4 HOURS)
Check out after breakfast and drive towards Shillong. On the way head to Shillong Peak, the highest point in the region, for sweeping views of the city and beyond. Then, proceed to Mawphlang Sacred Forest, a mystical grove protected by Khasi tribes for centuries. Walking through the ancient forest, you’ll sense the deep reverence locals hold for nature.
Upon reaching Shillong, visit Ward’s Lake, a serene spot to relax. End the evening with shopping in Police Bazaar, where you can pick up unique Khasi handicrafts, souvenirs, and local food.

- Since tourist taxis are not permitted inside Shillong Peak, you need to hire a local cab from the spot; the cost of the local cab ride is not covered.
- Most of the tourist spots gets closed by 4 pm or by 4:30 pm during winter season.
DAY 6: SHILLONG TO GUWAHATI – TEMPLES, ROPEWAY & DINNER CRUISE (100 KM, ~3 HOURS)
Bid farewell to Shillong and drive back to Guwahati. Begin with the famous Kamakhya Temple, one of India’s most revered Shakti Peethas. The temple’s spiritual aura is captivating. Next, visit Umananda Temple, located on Peacock Island, accessible via a scenic Brahmaputra boat ride. If time permits, explore the Brahmaputra Heritage Museum to learn about Assam’s rich culture and traditions.
As the sun sets, embark on a magical Brahmaputra Dinner Cruise— along the mighty Brahmaputra River. Feel the gentle sway of the boat as the cool breeze caresses your face and the sparkling city lights reflect off the water. Indulge in delicious local cuisine while enjoying cultural performances or soothing live music. A perfect way to reminisce about your Meghalaya journey.

Note: In order to do Kamakhya temple darshan please book your flight after 5pm. For Kamakhya darshan in general queue, can take an entire day, or opt for a VIP darshan pass which takes approximately 3 to 5 hours. Only 200 VIP pass are issued per day on a first come first serve basis which is available in online portal or can book through us at an additional cost of Rs. 1500/- per head.
DAY 7: FAREWELL – UNTIL NEXT TIME
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at your hotel, reflecting on the incredible journey you’ve just experienced, check out. Take a final drive through Guwahati, where the memories of your northeastern adventure will stay with you long after you board your flight.

- If an additional person or child is traveling with you, they will share the room with you on a mattress.

- The vehicle will only be available as per the itinerary and is not at your disposal.
- At time, Meghalaya experiences load shedding. While some hotels in Shillong and Sohra (Cherrapunjee) have power backup, it’s important to keep in mind that heavy electrical devices such as geysers and electric kettles may not work during power outages. Additionally, Guest Houses and Homestays in Mawlynnong do not have generators, so power disruptions are possible.
- To ensure your devices stay charged, we recommend bringing a power bank.
- Hotel rooms in this region tend to be smaller than those in metropolitan cities, and air conditioning may not always be available. Some hotels and resorts may also not offer TVs in the rooms.
- Hotel services here might differ from those in larger cities, but our service providers will make every effort to accommodate your needs during your stay.
- For trips to villages outside Shillong, we suggest carrying cash as card payment options may be limited.

Any purchase made through Destinationbuddies related to a booking is subject to these terms and conditions. By making a booking, it is assumed that the person making the reservation has accepted these terms on behalf of everyone listed in the booking.
No changes to these terms and conditions by our employees or agents will be valid unless authorized in writing by the appropriate authority at Destinationbuddies.
Booking and Payment
All bookings for tours and expeditions require a 50% advance payment, with the remaining balance to be paid before the trip begins. Payments can be made either in cash or via online bank transfer. Details for the company’s bank account will be provided for the advance deposit.
Cancellation of Booking by the Client
If it becomes necessary for you to cancel your trip/ booking, please send us an intimation in writing. Cancellation charges will be effective form the date of receiving your request to cancel the tour/service in written. The Cancellation charges are as follows:

Alteration of Itineraries
The agency reserves the right to alter or modify any of its itineraries, in the events of circumstances beyond its control.
Cancellation of Tour by the Company
We will not cancel your tour unless we are forced to do so by unusual or unforeseen circumstances, such as war, civil or political unrest or what is usually beyond our control.
If we cancel your tour we will refund all payments made to us in respect of the tour cost, but we shall not be liable to refund you for incidental expenses that you may have incurred as a result of your booking like visa fee or expenses like bank charge at our end while receiving your payment or bank service charge while transferring amount to third party.
Assumption of risk
Your booking is accepted on the understanding that you realize the hazards involved in this kind of tour, as most of our tour/expeditions may involves going to rural areas where there are limited facilities. Destinationbuddies, or any of its employees or agents, Will Not Be Liable for delay, loss or damage to personal property, personal injury, illness or death which might occur.
Modification of Terms and Conditions
The Terms and Conditions may be amended or modified Destinationbuddies at any time without notice. It is therefore essential that you consult the Terms and Conditions prior to making each and every booking, particularly in order to ensure what provisions are in operation in case they have changed since the last time an order was placed by you.
Only those who have accepted the Terms and Conditions and affirmatively indicated their consent to be bound by the Terms and Conditions may make a booking with Destinationbuddies. Without this acceptance any order is subject to cancellation at any time.
